Wilmot’s employees spent their Sunday last week walking in The 2014 Muscle Walk sponsored by The Muscular Dystrophy Association. They had a connection to the cause – Kathy Wilmot’s sister has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) – so it was with conviction and dedication that many of them got up early on Sunday morning and took a 5K walk in honor of those suffering with ALS.

MDA has been a huge supporter of the fight against ALS, a debilitating disease that slowly robs your nerves of the ability to send messages to your muscles. They have donated over $240 million toward support, education, advocacy and research for ALS. The Muscle Walk is just one way they raise money for their efforts. The Wilmot team raised over $3500 that morning – a drop in the bucket for what is needed – but it’s a start!

As Kathy Wilmot said in a “pre-walk” speech to the crowd of walkers, “What gives me hope is a quote I heard that says – there are no incurable diseases, just ones which a treatment hasn’t been found yet.”  The Wilmots thanked those employees that participated and those that donated money to the walk. “It’s always wonderful to see how giving our co-workers are when we have a cause we’d like to support, but when it’s personal, that means the world,” says Kathy.
