Celebrating Women in Construction Week 2026 at Wilmot Modular Structures, Inc.

Posted by Wilmot Modular on March 13, 2026

At Wilmot Modular Structures, Inc., we were proud to celebrate Women in Construction Week March 1st to 7th, 2026, an initiative sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). This annual event highlights the significant contributions of women in an industry historically dominated by men, while inspiring future generations of female construction professionals.

The Growing Impact of  Women in Construction - Latest Construction Workforce Insights

For decades, construction has been perceived as a male-dominated field, but times are changing. More women are entering and excelling in construction-related careers, breaking barriers and proving that talent, expertise, and leadership know no gender.

    • Women made up about 11.2% of the U.S. construction workforce in 2024, the highest share in over 20 years, with around 1.34 million women employed in the industry. This marked a continued upward trend from the previous decade. A 2025 analysis suggests that women in construction may represent around 11.5% of payroll employees, reflecting ongoing growth.
    •
    • In 2024, 56,000 additional women joined the construction workforce, a year-over-year increase of approximately 4.35%, highlighting continued gains. Despite growth overall, women still represent a smaller share of on-site trade and extraction roles (around 4.3% in 2024), while they are more prominently employed in office, administrative, and management roles.
    •
    • The share of women in construction management roles (e.g., managers, supervisors) is higher than trade roles, with women comprising around 10.5% of construction managers — more than double their share in trades.
    •

These updated 2025 figures show steady progress in women’s participation — yet significant gaps remain in field and trade positions, reinforcing the importance of ongoing recruitment, mentorship, and inclusion efforts.

Celebrating Our Wilmot Women

This year’s WIC Week theme, “Level Up, Build Strong,” celebrated the strength, knowledge, and resilience of women in construction. To honor the incredible women of Wilmot, we:

  • -Hosted a special appreciation event featuring a delicious breakfast and thoughtful takeaways.

-Created personalized vision boards for the ladies to keep in their offices for daily inspiration and motivation.

-Shared an inspiring video message from our founder and leader, Kathy Wilmot, recognizing the powerful impact women have on our company’s success.

  • -Allowed time for our ladies to attend local WIC Week formal events.

At Wilmot, women are project managers, engineers, administrative leaders, accountants, sales professionals, and marketers — each playing a vital role in driving our growth, innovation, and future.

Why Representation Matters

Encouraging more women to pursue careers in construction isn’t just about fairness — it’s about building a stronger, more innovative industry. Diverse teams consistently perform better, bring fresh perspectives, and drive stronger results.

By supporting and empowering women, we create a more inclusive workplace while also helping bridge the skilled labor gap facing our industry today. The future of construction is stronger when everyone has a seat at the table.
